WHAT WE DO
What we do.
Making Caring Count is a social enterprise that aims to build impactful solutions around care work in Africa.
We hope to unlock investment for high-potential social enterprises within the care economy and affiliate sectors.
Many focus areas within the care economy are highly investable. For example, early childhood alone is a fast-growing area for investment by countries, donors, and private investors alike. The World Bank alone has committed over $6 billion in ECD and related investments over the past 15 years. We hope to catalyse and unlock funding from governments and the private sector to stimulate this sector further.
We hope to promote the visibility and investment potential of care work in Africa through market research and analysis.
The ILO estimates that globally over 400 million jobs could be generated in this sector—given the demographic trends of ageing and overall population growth. There are also opportunities for innovative, scalable social enterprises that can meet these needs—from early childhood development innovations to multigenerational care sites that could help all of us live better and healthier lives.
We plan to provide targeted advisory and capacity building support for social enterprises within the care economy.
While the care economy has high growth potential, targeted support is needed to develop this ecosystem. We plan to bring in a team of skilled experts that can support social enterprises within this sector to solve challenges, scale, and ultimately create systemic and long-lasting impact.By investing in caregiving, we believe that we can create an engine of economic growth and human thriving, one that impacts lives and generations for the better.
